Construction is well underway on the second story of the Grace Theological Institute building in Cap Haitien, Haiti. Workers are pushing to get the work done before the Primary School begins again in September. In addition, the classroom space being utilized on the first floor is being remodelled to make it more usuable and comfortable for the students and staff. We rejoice that God's work in Haiti is making some strides forward in spite of the tragic circumstance of everyday life. This provides some hope for the people residing there and provides a biblical centered education for children and church leaders.
The situation in Haiti is still not stable and travel between locations is difficult and very expensive as gas is currently about $8.00 a gallon and diesel is about $6.00 a gallon (a small drop in price).
Inflation is so high that no one can possibly know exactly what it is; however, one organization reported that their food expenses had risen by 300%. There is a food shortage in Haiti and consequently food is very expensive. Inflation also eats up dollars needed for building so we would appreciate any help you could give us as we complete the current projects in Cap Haitien.
