FOREIGN LANGUAGE DIFFICULTIES ANYONE? Some people just seem to be able to learn and speak any language. That is not the situation with me. Or maybe I am just too lazy to put in the effort to learn or maybe my brain just is not wired for it. Or maybe my ears are just bad. Quite frankly I have difficulties understanding some of the people who live in America and supposedly speak English. Since I was born in the South I suppose some people have problems with my speech as well. But I am blaming all my problems on our ancestors and their sins at the Tower of Babel because up to that time the Bible says language was easy for everyone, “Now the whole world had one language and a common speech,” (Ge

THE DEATH OF THE CAPTAIN OF THE BOAT! “After the flood Noah lived 350 years. Noah lived a total of 950 years, and then he died,” (Genesis 9:28-29 NIV). In the normal course of events everyone dies; even famous people like Noah. It is true Noah was a great man and that he was selected by God because of his faith and holy life to be used by God to continue life on earth in the face of God’s judgment. Today Noah is essentially known worldwide and his fame is spread to almost every nation. He is listed in the “Faith Hall of Fame” in Hebrews chapter 11 which is an astounding record of those who had faith in God. But like us Noah also had his faults and family problems after the flood was past and

GOD ALWAYS REMEMBERS US. Sometimes in the middle of what seems like impossible situations, or in situations that just drag on and it appears there is no answer to the current dilemma, one is inclined to think that maybe God has forgotten them. I don’t know but I can imagine that Noah had some thoughts running along those lines after one hundred and fifty days on the boat with occupants from the animal kingdom. “The waters flooded the earth for a hundred and fifty days,” (Genesis 7:24 NIV). I don’t know for sure about Noah but I do believe most of us would be staining a little bit. And because we have God’s Word to assure us that God is always present with us in every situation (Hebrews 13:5

GRACE! In Genesis 5:1-6:8 we find the origins of mankind, his linage, his total descent from fellowship with God in the Garden of Eden to the final corruption of the human race except for one man who found favor or grace in God’s sight. The bible describes it like this, “The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled. So the Lord said, ‘I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created—and with them the animals, the birds and the creatures that move along

AM I MY BROTHER’S KEEPER? The story of Cain and Abel is one of the saddest in human history and in Genesis 4 it smacks you in the face with the reality of sin from the earliest stages of humanity. But this event and the interaction Cain had with God also causes us to face our own responsibilities involved with those fellow residents of planet earth. God confronted Cain “face to face” when He asked the question, “Where is your brother Abel?” And Cain’s answer displays a heart of sin and an insolent attitude and action toward His creator; “I don’t know,” he replied. “Am I my brother’s keeper?” Of course God already knew the answer to His own question and it is obvious that Cain was lying to G

TROUBLE IN PARADISE! Most Sociologists appear to believe that if all mankind had all the necessities of life that all or most all of life’s problems would be solved and mankind could live in peace all around the world. After all if you live in a perfect environment and have everything you need in life why would there be any conflicts? Now maybe I am stating that too simplistically but what most of our “great sociologists” overlook is that mankind is faced with an enemy inwardly and outwardly that is determined to corrupt us and destroy us. For those of us who believe in the God who reveals Himself in the bible we are keenly aware of this enemy every day of our lives no matter how good our ci

ADAM & EVE: FACT OR FICTION? As we know from God’s Word in Genesis 1:1 God created the heavens and the earth and then He begin to fill them with all kinds of things including human beings. God forms and then He fills. He creates a place and then He fills the place. God’s Word tells us, “Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and the man became a living being,” (Genesis 2:7). I am happy to learn from God’s Word where I came from and I am happy to learn that I didn’t evolve from a piece of slime floating on some dirty water or from a monkey swinging on a tree limb or that I happened by chance to become a human being or in so

BIG BANG OR BIG GOD? “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth,” (Genesis 1:1 NIV). The beginning of God’s written Word given to mankind starts out in great simplicity. The words are so simple that even a child can understand them and yet so profound that even the “greatest” minds down through human history have struggled with the implications behind the statement. Many people who struggle with the words do so because they try to create God in their own image or because their human heart has become so corrupted that they deny the very existence of God. But if a person cannot accept these simple words how can they possibly accept the remainder of the “story” of the bible? If one
