OUCH! Think about this for a moment. "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God," (1 Corinthians 10:31 NIV). I think many people do what they do for themselves or for their own glory. Or maybe they do it to help someone else because it is the right thing to do. But think about what God's Word is saying here. Even in the basic and most simplistic of things in our daily life we are to do it in a way that will bring glory to God. From breakfast to dinner and in all activities in between we are to bring glory to God. From the first waking moment to the first Z at night God is to be gloried through our actions. Ouch! Ouch! When I think about my own life and

GET IT RIGHT! IT IS A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH! The Apostle Paul was concerned about people. He wanted to make sure people understood the importance of first things. Quite often if we miss the basics we end up way off base in our understanding of many things. From personal experience I can tell you that some times that makes life really hard. But some things are of life and death importance as the Apostle Paul shared with the church at Corinth. Paul said, "Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have

SURPRISE! There they were thinking they were madly in love and ready to get married. As part of the premarital counseling the following Bible passage was read. And then something happened that had never happened in one of these counseling sessions with me before or since. Here is that Bible passage, "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." (1 Corinthians 13:4-8a NIV). At the end of the reading t

DANGER AHEAD! One of the dangers of the Christian life is that we can get over confident in how well we are doing spiritually, not realizing that our confidence may make us prone to temptation. After all we are humans and prone to failure. Be careful. In this regard God reminds us in His Word with this admonition, "So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it," (1 Corinthians 10:12-13 NIV). Temptation is common to all human beings. What tem

TEMPLE TRASHERS! Who would want to trash a Temple? Terrorists maybe? Certainly not Christians! Or would they? Yet many Christians do it every day and think nothing of it or maybe don't realize it. I am serious. The Bible says, "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies," (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NIV). Our bodies are God's holy place, a temple if you will, where His Holy Spirit dwells and the place in which we are to worship him. It is true that most Church buildings are expensive but yet our body is the most expensive meeting place wi

MEET A GREAT YOUNG LADY! CHERLINE PIERRE Cherline Pierre, along with three brothers, was brought to House of Hope Orphanage nine years ago. One of her brothers, after leaving House of Hope, passed away after suffering a serious illness. We are glad that her brother Rolex spent a number of years at House of Hope where he became a Christian and became friends with many of our GO2Haiti Team members. Another brother left House of Hope some time ago to integrate into Haitian society. The third brother was taken from House of Hope a few years ago by his uncle to live in the Caicos Islands. Cherline is now twenty-two years old and serves as the Assistant Cook and is a resident Girls House Leader at

WHY? Why does it seem that our non-Christian friends and family members can't see the world with the same eyes and spirit we do? To name a few areas of differences: Creationism vs evolution; life vs abortion; infallible Scripture vs errors, myths, & untruths; one way to God through Jesus Christ vs many ways to God; absolute truth vs relativism; and there are many more. Why then is there such a difference in how we see things and how our non-Christian friends see them? After all, our view seems so simple to us. God answers this question on differences with the following statement in the Bible, "The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but cons

EDUCATED BEYOND REAL INTELLIGENCE. It's true. Many people are highly educated and in their own eyes and the eyes of the world are extraordinarily wise. But yet they can't understand the reality and truth of a simple message that millions of people for 2000 years have understood with ease. That message is foolishness to them. What the world considers a good education, wisdom, and intelligence is not their problem. The problem is their lack of understanding what is really wise and what is foolish; what is God's power and what is their weakness; what is God's plan and what are the plans of men. God is able to confound and frustrate all who depend on man's definition of wisdom and intelligence w

DIVISIVE PEOPLE-SMOOTH TALK-AND DECEPTION! This is the generation we live in and Satan adjusts his methods to continue his work. Let us also remember that the real fight is not against other people but against the spiritual forces behind them. So let us make sure as Christians that we do not stoop to using Satan's methodologies in our battles against the sinful problems in this world. The religious, political, educational, and social life of this nation is in a turmoil. Right is now wrong and wrong is now right. The language and words are changed to mean whatever deceptive people want them to mean. Religion is in BUT Christianity is out. True Biblical knowledge is at an all-time low. Cursin

WHAT IS TRUE AND PROPER WORSHIP? It is being sacrificed alive. That's what God wants us to be; living sacrifices. God wants people who live holy lives and please God in our service to Him. The Bible says, "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is —his good, pleasing and perfect will," (Romans 12:1-2 NIV). In order to become a living sacrifice we must become a non-conformist in relation to the patterns and
