PURPOSE!

PURPOSE! I don’t know about you but I often think or ask, “What is the purpose in that?” Like government forms, or Facebook posts, or some of the laws we have, or some TV commercials or free shipping that adds a handling charge. And what about all those tools at Home Depot? Does anyone really know all the purposes those all-purpose tools have? And what about the purpose of life? Are you clear on your purpose in life or are you just living day to day aimlessly moving into the future? That’s a big question. We don’t necessarily need to know the purpose of everything but we should know the purpose of life. Most Christians know that the bible is clear that the disciple should reflect his/her tea

READ IT ALL! DO IT ALL!

READ IT ALL! DO IT ALL! It seems that many people are always quoting other people out of context in order to put the person in a bad light. What Pastors and Preachers say is taken out of context a lot also and many times for the same reason. Live long enough and it will happen to you. Context is a principle that many people over look today in relating other people’s conversations. Context is important and it is always good to pay attention to context in the bible as well. It is very important to listen to what Jesus has said as recorded in the bible but we do need to keep it in context. Jesus taught a lot on prayer and very often it is misinterpreted because the context is forgotten. In the

FOCUS IS IMPORTANT!

FOCUS IS IMPORTANT! As one who wears glasses I can tell you that when your glasses aren’t in focus strange things can happen. When a camera is out of focus a beautiful scene that we want to capture becomes just a blurred image. Life is that way as well. If we let our life get out of focus then what we do can become meaningless. Which leads me to these questions, “What is our focus today? What are we trying to gain? What are we trying to accomplish? What will be the ultimate worth of what we do and say today in light of eternity?” Jesus said, “What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self? Whoever Is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man wi

OBEDIENCE A SIGN OF LORDSHIP!

OBEDIENCE A SIGN OF LORDSHIP! Jesus has a way of getting to a point very quickly. Some people talk around a point but never get to the point and some cloud the point so much that we are not sure what their point is. Jesus is very clear about the points He wants to make. Jesus said, “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?” (Luke 6:46 NIV). If Jesus is really our Lord then obedience to what He says should mark our life and not just occasionally but repeatedly. Now to make His point really clear Jesus states that He will give us an example of what He is talking about (v.47). I like examples added to what someone says because sometimes I am a little dense and Jesus knows th

TAKE TIME TO BE HOLY!

TAKE TIME TO BE HOLY! The Rev. Billy Graham once said, “Holiness of life is simply the response of a loving heart to the grace and love that God has shown us in Christ. Holiness is essential for the church, if we are to live as kings and priests in the kingdom of God.” In its simplest terms we can say that holiness is just being set apart from sin to God for His service as we live our life. When we become Christians we become new creations in Christ, our sins are forgiven having been paid for in the sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross, and we are clothed in Christ’s holiness and set apart for His service. The new found love we have found in the Lord Jesus Christ should cause us to want to live

MERCY IS OFTEN HARD TO COME BY TODAY!

MERCY IS OFTEN HARD TO COME BY TODAY! Mercy has been defined by some as “compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one’s power to punish or harm.” Mercy toward someone certainly implies an act of compassion that one apparently doesn’t deserve and forgiveness of one that requires an act of the will of the grantor of mercy. Because of the many conflicts between people in our society today over many unresolved issues on a personal and national level it appears to me that mercy toward our fellow man is not as common today as it used to be. I think as Christians we need to remember where we came from and what we were like before we became Christians in order for us to r

GRACE THEOLOGICAL INSTITUTE GRADUATION IN CAP HAITIEN, HAITI

JUNE 30 WAS A GREAT DAY for five Pastors who had successfully completed their three years of study at Grace Theological Institute. Professors, Staff Members, Family and Friends gathered to honor these men who had given much time to the study of God's Word while also being leaders of their local churches and leaders of their families. For most people life in Haiti is not easy and funds are hard to come by and the time it takes to travel anywhere is enough to discourage anyone. Study, lesson preparation and sermon preparation is not easy for most Pastors as it is hard to find quiet places and light is often limited at night because of a shortage of electricity. Pastor/Students must still work

HAVE YOU THOUGHT ABOUT THIS LATELY?

HAVE YOU THOUGHT ABOUT THIS LATELY? "Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age,” (Matthew 28:18-20 NIV). This command was not only intended for those in Jesus’ presence at the time but the command was also meant for His disciples of every age. Have you thought about this command lately? I would hope at some point in time in every Christian’s walk with Christ this command would come to be second na

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY! On July 4, 1776 the Continental Congress declared the thirteen American colonies free of the rule of Great Britain. With the signing of the Declaration of Independence legal separation from Great Britain was finalized. The signing followed action by Congress on July 2 approving a resolution of independence. This historic event of course was cast in the Revolutionary War with Great Britain that lasted from 1775-1783. This day is a Federal holiday in the United States and is celebrated like no other day of the year. Independence Day is full of patriotic events, fireworks, picnics, beach & pool time, sports, entertainment events, shows and just about any other kind of e

WHERE DID THESE PEOPLE COME FROM?

WHERE DID THESE PEOPLE COME FROM? I mean these people who have suddenly appeared on the scene and hate America and are screaming it loud and clear; where did they come from? Did we raise them here in America? Have our families, schools and churches gotten so bad in such a short period of time that we have produced a generation of people who literally hate what our country has done to provide freedom and prosperity for its citizens and helped to raise the standard of living for people living around the world? How has our country produced a generation of people who hate life so much that they promote the ripping of babies from the wombs of their mothers or if by God’s grace the baby survives b

ARE YOU DRAGGING TODAY?

ARE YOU DRAGGING TODAY? Sometimes it seems like you just will not be able to drag yourself out of bed. A long night because of sick kids, a sick spouse, or maybe a sick you and sleep is gone but the day is ahead and there is no way to escape it. Life is not always easy and full of fun and games or pleasant activities. Sometimes life just wears you down and wears you out. There are a 1001 things that may befall us in this life that causes us to want to just hide in our room and shut the world out. But responsibilities call and most of the time we just have to drag ourselves out of bed and into what may seem like a hostile environment in our condition. It is in times like this that we need to

WHO WILL YOU SERVE TODAY!

WHO WILL YOU SERVE TODAY? For a Christian this should be a simple question with a simple answer but for many it appears very difficult to answer and be consistent in practice. The question every morning is who or what are we going to serve today? The question is not who or what did you serve yesterday. That day is gone forever. The question is not who or what will we serve tomorrow. There are no assurances we will be here tomorrow. Or maybe tomorrow we may be in no condition to make that decision due to health issues or planet departure (death), or other life issues. Jesus has given us a major statement of fact that each one of us must face today, think on and act wisely in our response. “No
