LIFE IS FULL OF IT! That means different things to different people and often that depends on your age group and your extended family. Sudden deaths, disasters, health issues, job losses or changes, graduations, marriages, births, accidents, war and on the list goes. Does anyone have a serene and peaceful life anymore or did we ever really have one? It seems life marches on at a rapid pace today. Even vacations can sometimes be full of activity and people return home more exhausted than when they left. IT LOOKS LIKE A WAR ZONE. A friend and member of the Caribbean Vision Ministries Board of Directors sent me this email in reference to the tornado that hit Brookville, Ohio the city where he lives. “Thanks Chuck. Our community can use the prayers. Pictures don’t do it justice. An older plat, next to the high school, with hundreds of homes in town looks like a war zone. It does resemble Haiti in many ways. Stuff everywhere. Trash everywhere. No power. The difference is most of these people have relatives, friends, and money to survive. Lots of heavy equipment and people to use it. (My wife and I) went in town last night and just put gloves on and I took my chainsaw to start removing debris.

SOMETIMES ALL YOU CAN DO IS PRAY! What a week it has been with this crazy weather. It seems we have had tornados and bad weather everywhere. Millie and I have two granddaughters who live in the Dayton, Ohio area where tornados ran wild and caused extensive damage. We are thankful they were not harmed and suffered no damage. In the area also we have a Caribbean Vision Ministries Board member and his family, multitudes of personal friends and several supporting churches. Though many of them it seems suffered property damage as far as I know at this time none of them suffered injuries. Time and Facebook will reveal that to us I suppose. CLOSED DOORS! You have heard it and so have I. “Close the door. Were you born in a barn?” A rhetorical question to be sure but closed doors are an everyday thing that we all observe. Closed doors have many uses; these are so many that I don’t need to recount them here. But metaphorical closed doors are also real and they can apply to many things in our life. A USEFUL TOOL! As I was preparing my wife’s breakfast this morning, you heard me right I was preparing my wife’s breakfast; I began to think about the tools I used to prepare her breakfast. Now, I don’t recommend that you think too much when preparing breakfast because this can lead to common things like water or milk boiling over or instances of losing track of time that you really need to pay attention to. RICH OR POOR? I may be wrong but there seems to be a greater emphasis on the financial status of people today than there was when I was growing up. Maybe that is because the place where I grew up people seemed to have more interests than just what they could buy or what they could possess. TRUTH VS LIES! In America today and it seems around the world also, we have a big contest going on between the reality of truth and lies. This is not new but it has expanded today because of all the new communications systems developed in our modern society. It seems we have millions of people who will believe anything that is put on social media, TV, radio, internet or any other electronic media. JUST WAIT! It is hard sometimes to “wait” on someone, something, some event, or some day or some…you name it. The problem is that waiting takes patience which is not one of my greatest virtues.
