THE WORLD'S GREATEST TRADE!
THE WORLD’S GREATEST TRADE! Trading can be a serious business or a game or just fun depending on the context. Some people like to trade things and make deals. Often it is a way of life that allows a person to make a living to support them financially. Frankly, I would probably starve to death being a trader. It is my tendency to give things away. But I once made a great trade and what a trade it was. I traded death for life. My selfish, self-centered, sinful life was put to death and a new life controlled by a totally loving, selfless, and merciful God was given in its place. As the Apostle Paul said, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me, (Galatians 2:20 NIV). What a great trade that was for me.
It certainly takes some time for a Christian to grasp the full impact of this truth (if we ever do). A life of sight has become a life of faith. This is not faith in our self but rather faith in the Son of God who has all power and all knowledge and who has provided the new life. This life is not me living for self but me letting Christ live through me and accomplishing His will through me. When a Christian understands the great love that Jesus has for us, a love so great that He gave His sinless self for our sinful being, and the fact Jesus wants to live through us we should be astonished. Those things should lead us to willingly let Christ control us and live through us. In fact we should consider it a privilege and an honor that we may do so. What a trade! What a great life we may live for God right now in our weakness and His strength. Have you made that trade? Your death for His Life; I believe it is the world’s greatest trade.
