JOURNALISTIC QUESTIONS! Are truth and demonstrating respect for others dying practices in journalism in America? Has making news concerning one’s self become the object of journalism in America instead of just reporting the news events as they have happened? Has coloring the truth to make one’s own opinions heard instead of just stating the facts and opinions of others become the object of “news” reports? Has outright lying about others and what they actually said now just a common practice in journalism in America? Have journalists stopped calling out their peers who are running awry in their profession or do they just accept them as part of the journalistic “herd?” Is true journalism dead in America? What is really being taught in journalism classes in American colleges and universities? Why do most Americans not trust most of the news organizations in America today?

Thank God for those in the journalistic profession who still have ethics and pursue truth. They appear to be few and far between today and it is easy to identify them from “false journalists who give us fake news.” We should support true journalists because they are like John the Baptist and “crying in the wilderness” to a society that really needs the truth today as it is and not as someone would like it to be. As our society has drifted away from practicing the basic moral roots of the bible and gone to “situational morals” that are principles of our own making the truth has been slipping away in all areas of our society.

As Christians we need to be wise in discerning those in society who would lie to us and attempt to promote themselves for they are certainly “wolves in sheep’s clothing.” As Christians we also need to practice in our own lives what God desires, “The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy,” (Proverbs 12:22 NIV). We should be people God delights in and we should also seek out those in the Journalistic profession whom God delights in as well…people who do not lie to us. A true Journalist is easy to identify because, “An honest witness tells the truth, but a false witness tells lies,” (Proverbs 12:17 NIV).
