IS LIFE FAIR?
IS LIFE FAIR? I think most people feel that life is unfair sometimes but then I have known that since the time I was born and some guy slapped me on the behind and made me cry; honestly I had not done anything to him. In fact I didn’t even know him. And being so young I just had to take it. So here I am in my later years in life and quite frankly I am tired of people complaining about how unfair life is and how life is abusing them. Often in the thinking of many today life is so unfair we must have elections so we can vote people into office who will give us everything that life has unfairly denied us. I am sure many of these complainers would like to sue the doctor who slapped their little behinds when they were born. Life is unfair but we need to remember that the ground is level at the foot of the cross. God is no respecter of persons.
On a more positive note I am thankful that God has allowed me to be born in a country where people can complain freely without fear of reprisal unless they are surrounded by people who think they are the only people who are allowed to complain. Go figure. But in this strange month when we decide if we are changing our clocks to get back on “regular time” or if we truly are already on “regular time” and we are just trying to figure out what the true time is let us pause a moment. Let us talk to God who has given us life, however much time that will involve, and all the opportunities that go with it for everyone. As the Psalmist said, “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life. Rescue me from my enemies, Lord, for I hide myself in you. Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground,” (Psalm 143: 8-10 NIV). It is good sometimes to not worry about “fair” but rather to just spend some time quietly with God and remember His unfailing love and learn His will for our life. That is a real blessing.
