GREAT THOUGHT FOR TODAY!
GREAT THOUGHT FOR TODAY! I don’t know about you but my mind gets fatigued during election season. Twenty-four hours a day it seems to be bitter politics, poison letters and pipe bombs in the mail, hatred, lying people, hate TV, hurricanes, and floods. How about a great thought for the day? SALVATION! It is something great to think about today. Our GOD, our heavenly Father, is kind and loving, and generous and in spite of our failures shows mercy and grace to us in many ways including our salvation. The Apostle Paul says, “But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy,” (Titus 3:4-5a NIV). Salvation is all God’s work. There is nothing we could do to deserve it. Paul goes on to say, “He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, (Titus 3:5b-6 NIV). God is a generous God and in spite of our sinfulness He is willing to deliver us from our sinful self.
Jesus said, “You must be born again,” and that work of regeneration comes through the work of God the Holy Spirit in all His fullness. All our works are as filthy rags up to the point of regeneration but by God’s redeeming power we are made new again spiritually by the Holy Spirit’s power. Sins are forgiven. New life is given to a dead person. Paul finishes this powerful passage by saying, “so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life,” (Titus 3:7 NIV).We are declared righteous before God because of the work Jesus, our Savior, did on the cross in paying for our sins. Through that great sacrifice God’s mercy, grace, love, salvation, new birth, hope, and eternal life have come. And we are now heirs with Christ Jesus. All that is His is now ours and as we grow as God’s children that thought will become more and more real to us. Ponder on that today. Think about it. And stand amazed that God would do all this for YOU and for all who trust in His son the Lord Jesus. ("Daily Reflections On God's Word" Volume 1 by Dr. Chuck Davis).
