THANKSGIVING AND PRAYER!
THANKSGIVING AND PRAYER! Today is my oldest grandsons’ birthday. Birthday’s come and go and some people get excited about them and for others it is just another day. But today I remember that just a few years ago when my grandson was involved in an auto accident we were not sure he would see another birthday on planet earth. Through God’s grace and the prayers of many who knew him my grandson is still alive, a healthy young man and doing well in life. I am thankful for God’s mercy and grace in his life and pray for him to have a great day today in celebrating life and giving thanks to God.
Many of our friends remember when my wife in a short space of time went through two serious bladder surgeries, septic shock treatment, rehab recovery, and continuing home health care and then a broken leg followed by more home health care. Progress has been slow in recovering from these things and also in regaining the ability to walk with a walker once again. We are thankful for those who have prayed for and are continuing to pray for my wife. We believe it is through God’s grace and prayers that my grandson has recovered and my wife continues to progress in recovery; a life-long process of recovery.
Life is not always a “bed of roses.” Difficult things happen to people who love the Lord Jesus Christ and answers as to “why” are not always revealed to us. One thing every Christian can rely on is this, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose,” (Romans 8:28 NIV). It is in this knowledge that we can respond to the Apostle Paul’s encouragement, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God,” (Philippians 4:6 NIV). If you face difficulties and problems today remember that God is walking with you and working in your life so present your requests to Him this day with thanksgiving.
