NOT HIDDEN FROM GOD! There is a great Haitian Church in Lake Park, Florida that is a little hard to find. You could drive right past it and not know it even if you are looking for it. It is in a non-descript building next to a business establishment. And the church has legal status in contrast to some other ethnic congregations in South Florida. The Pastor is a man with a big heart and a love for His small congregation that is evident for all to see and hear. His entire family is involved in ministry in the church, from training the children on Saturday for lack of space in their facility, to leading the music and audio visuals on Sunday and the other days they meet. This church reminds me of most of the churches my wife and I have worked with in our years of ministry.

A faithful friend and co-worker in the ministry and I had the privilege of sharing the pulpit in this church for a period of time. My ministry partner preached on the third Sunday of every month and I spoke on the fourth Sunday of every month. I consider it a great privilege to have been allowed to be a part of this church plant and I look forward to helping them grow as a church anyway that I can. This church bears a great testimony for Jesus among the Haitian community in Lake Park, FL, which is just on the Northern outskirts of West Palm Beach. They are helping also to support the residents at House of Hope Orphanage in Haiti and they are working hard to evangelize the Haitian community in Lake Park. As all small church plants they see good times and difficult times.

God does not forget the workers and small churches and church plants in His harvest field. Yes they may not be noticed by the majority of those living in the community and sometimes their gathering place for worship may be hard to find but God is still there with them. God has not forgotten them and very often their impact on a community may be greater than the largest church in the biggest facility in the community. The same is true of individuals like you and me. God has not forgotten us though we may seem insignificant to the world around us. Jesus said, “Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows,” (Luke 12:6-7 ESV). God’s people are never forgotten by God.

God said regarding the foundation and building of the temple in the days of Zachariah the prophet, “Who dares despise the day of small things,” (Zachariah 4:10 NIV). Most churches still start small and in these days when people seem to adore “big things” they are often despised. But I count it a privilege to be part of a missionary outreach that follows the marching orders of Jesus, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the end of the age,” (Matthew 28:18-20). How about you? Is following the marching orders of Jesus still a privilege for you?
