ATTITUDE - “People may hear your words but they feel your attitude.” I don’t know who said it but I certainly know what they mean. Even a casual observance of the people around us will reveal the reality of this quote. I wonder about us as Christians and our words toward the “unlovable” of the world. I believe we know all the words to use to try and convince the “unlovable” that we love them but does our attitude (via actions) actually match up to our words? The Apostle Paul said, “You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had,” (Philippians 2:5 NLT). We are talking about a settled, firm, convicted state of mind that determines our actions in life. It is not an “act” but a reality in all of our life just as it was with Jesus. What we say, we live all the time. Our words will not only tell people we love them but our attitude will also reflect it. How is your attitude toward life in general and specifically how is your attitude toward the “unlovable” people of life in particular?
Actions do speak louder than words and attitude often speaks louder than actions. It is possible to be silent and perform good actions but with the wrong attitude. The question we must ask is this, “Do I have the same attitude Jesus would have?” If our answer is “no” then maybe we need an attitude adjustment!
