A DAY TO REMEMBER! Some days in your life you just don’t forget and one of those days for me occurred a few years ago was when the ambulance came and my wife was rushed to the hospital while profusely bleeding. At the time we did not know the cause of the bleeding but we knew she was losing enough blood that she was in real trouble without proper care. It was at that time I was really thankful the EMT station was just a few blocks from our home. As I rushed to the hospital emergency room I filled the air with my prayers directed to my heavenly Father. It is always good to have an open line to heaven when emergencies arise.
I am thankful for good doctors and nurses and EMT’s and hospitals but I am even more thankful for a heavenly Father who knows all about us and our needs whether it is an emergency situation or whether it is our ho-hum daily life. The Apostle Paul reminds us to “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17) and also to “not be anxious about anything, but in every situation by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God,” (Philippians 4:6 NIV). And when God answers our prayers in a way that brings us peace and brings His solutions to our prayers we should not fail to thank Him for His work in our lives. I cannot fail to continue to thank God for taking care of my wife on that memorable day. May God help each of us to be instant in prayer and thankful in our hearts for a loving heavenly Father always listening and responsive on the other end of the prayer.
