OPPORTUNITIES ARE EVERYWHERE FOR CHRISTIANS TO MAKE A SPIRITUAL IMPACT!
OPPORTUNITIES ARE EVERYWHERE FOR CHRISTIANS TO MAKE A SPIRITUAL IMPACT! Jesus said, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few,” (Matthews 9:37 NIV). As God’s people we need to open our eyes and see the opportunities before us in the places where we live and work to make an impact for the kingdom of God. Sometimes Christians seem to think that God’s harvest field for reaping lost souls is “over there” and mean by that phrase that the lost are in all the other nations of the world but not here where we live. Nothing could be further from the truth. Just as Jesus pointed out to His Disciples that the multitude of lost souls was all around them so are we surrounded by lost souls around us where we live and work.
It is true that God’s harvest field encompasses the entire world and it is true that of the billions of inhabitants of the world most are spiritually lost and need to come into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. And we praise God that He has raised up missionaries from among our nation to go and help evangelize the nations of the world. We as individuals and churches can help evangelize the world in a multitude of ways. There are great methods to aid in that task today. We can be a part of the team by praying, giving financially, and going in whatever manner God may allow.
But let us recognize the opportunities to reach those of the “world” whom God is bringing to our country today along with those who have been born and raised in the USA. The lost are all around us. They live next door to us. They work alongside us each day. They serve us in the stores and shops of America. Though many of these people are not interested in the message of Christ, Jesus assures us the harvest is plentiful and it is up to us to carry the message to where they are so God can work through us to reap the harvest of souls. Jesus said of His day that those who are really interested in growing God’s kingdom (workers) are “few”. As we view the Christian landscape I believe that is still true today. God is looking for Christians who have the spiritual acuity to recognize the opportunities God has set before us to impact the world for Christ. He has brought the world to us in the USA and he has opened the world to us through communications and transportation. Will we be part of God’s workforce for reaping souls for His kingdom? And will we begin to do that by using the opportunities He sets before us TODAY? ("Daily Reflections On God's Word" Volume 1 by Dr. Chuck Davis).
