THE SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE AND GOD’S REDEMPTION! The sanctity of human life and its intrinsic value is seen by God’s action of providing redemption for the human race. “Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him,” (Hebrews 9:27-28 NIV). It is clear from the Bible and human history that because of sin all men will die, the Rapture event excluded. Because of that God has provided redemption or salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ. Mankind is so valuable to God that He was willing to give His own Son as payment for man’s sin, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life,” (John 3:16 NIV).
Jesus so loved the human race and so valued even sinful mankind that He provided a wonderful plan for mankind’s sin dilemma, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am,” (John 14:1-3 NIV). If God sees all mankind as being this valuable how can mankind in general have such low disregard for other human beings? How can people treat each other with such disrespect and such low regard? How can genocide, infanticide and euthanasia hold such prominence in the world’s societies?
As mankind ceases to believe in the only true God, or denies the existence of God, or creates their own God by making God in their image, or believes they are God occupying their own world in this time and space, then self becomes the only important thing in life. Life becomes all about “me.” And care and concern for other human beings becomes almost non-existent. And in spite of all this God loves mankind and holds out His love toward all those who occupy planet earth so that they can have an abundant life now and true life for eternity. God believes in the sanctity of life.("Daily Reflections On God's Word" Volume 1 by Dr. Chuck Davis).
