THE SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE SEEN IN OUR REFLECTION OF GOD! Another thing to note about the sanctity of human life being established by creation is this: God endowed mankind with God-like Characteristics. “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them,” (Genesis 1:27 NIV).
God not only created man but He created man in His own image. What does that mean? It means that man in some way, both in the concrete & abstract, is a reflection of God. For example, God created man as a living, rational being with intelligence. It is for sure God is that way and it is proven by His creation. Man also has a will and the ability to speak and organize things. Man has freedom and is immortal. Man has headship over the creation. Man is a spiritual being with emotions, a soul, a conscience, morality and a mind.
Adam’s fall into sin has produced a dramatic effect on the human race and sometimes God’s image is hard to discern in individuals. For instance we often wonder about some people’s conscience and morals. In fact that is one reason we are having multiple reflections on the sanctity of life. But even with the imperfections of mankind today, man is still made in the image of God, and the sanctity of human life is still a valid point and worthy of defending. Tomorrow let us reflect on the fact God placed intrinsic value on every person including the baby in the womb. ("Daily Reflections On God's Word" Volume 1 by Dr. Chuck Davis).
