THE OMNIPOTENCE OF GOD: APPLICATIONS. What can we apply to our lives based on the reflections concerning the Omnipotence of God? The Apostle Paul reminds us that this glorious omnipotent God is able to save us (1 Corinthians 15:1-4, 54-57). Jesus died for our sins that we might be saved from sin. God demonstrated His power to save us by resurrecting Jesus from the grave. God through His omnipotent power has given us victory over death. Because of the omnipotent God we have we should not have doubts about His power to save. There is no other God to save us. Religion cannot save us. Only the Omnipotent God, who created everything, including us, has the power to provide for our salvation. Paul also reminds us that this Omnipotent God can also preserve us in our salvation experience (1 Corinthians 1:8-9). Some ask the questions, “If we believe in Jesus will we make it to heaven or will we slip and lose our salvation?” “Am I able to keep myself saved?” In our own power we are weak & puny people. We fail often. But fortunately we have a great Omnipotent God who has promised to keep us strong to the end and is faithful to keep His promises. Remember, God cannot violate His character and lie AND He says He is faithful to do what He says.
As humans we often find ourselves in trouble. But God can help us in trouble (1 Corinthians 10:13). God saw Noah through the flood. God saw the Israelites through 40 years in the wilderness. God the Father saw Jesus through His death on the Cross. Our Omnipotent God will see us through troubles and temptations. God is faithful. He will provide victory when we go through temptation and troubles depending on His strength not our own. We are all weak human beings…even the strongest of us. But our Omnipotent God is never weak. This is the God who created the universe. This is the God who created Adam & Eve and us. This God has power and control over the entire universe including all the demonic forces of the devil. Our victory in temptation and trouble in life is not a victory of how good, perfect and strong we are. Our victory is found in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Omnipotent God who is more than willing to help us when we depend on Him.
Once again the Apostle Paul reminds us that God can strengthen us as needed (2 Corinthians 1:21-22). We are weak people. Face it. We need help. Often times Christians fall flat on their faces. We fail God. We fail other people. We fail ourselves. But we still belong to God and God will strengthen our inner man and our outer man and will stand us up and make us firm. A temporary lapse does not mean eternal defeat. We are God’s children. God has put His seal on us. God has a lifetime guarantee on us. And our God is the eternal Omnipotent God of the universe. Our Father is the strongest person around. Our God is the wisest person around. And God already knows what we need to be strengthened. So we need to come to our heavenly Father and we need to call on His resources and strength. And finally God can supply all our needs (2 Corinthians 9:8). Our God is able to supply our needs BECAUSE our God is Omnipotent. Our God is Omniscient. Our God is Omnipresent and He knows what our needs are. God will supply everything that we need so that we may abound in good works for God. We serve a mighty God! ("Daily Reflections On God's Word" Volume 1 by Dr. Chuck Davis).
