THE BLESSED HOPE!
THE BLESSED HOPE! “For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say ‘No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good,” (Titus 2:11-14 NIV). Hope is having “a confident expectation of a favorable outcome in all situations.” And certainly “the blessed hope” fulfilled will provide that.
When we face impossible situations our HOPE needs to be in God. Remember He is omnipresent, omniscient and omnipotent. He can work out the most impossible situations. We may see no way out of our situation BUT God is able to care for us. The book of Titus in the quoted verses reveals to us a blessed hope found in the Lord Jesus Christ. This passage is about the Grace of God that brings salvation. God’s Grace appeared bodily in Jesus Christ. Grace is extended to all people. Grace teaches us how to live. Grace gives purpose in life and Grace gives us HOPE…THE BLESSED HOPE. There is a lot more involved in the BLESSED HOPE…the next appearance of Jesus…than what I can share in in a few daily reflections but I do want to share a few things.
The BLESSED HOPE will be a fulfilled promise. Jesus said, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am,” (John 14:1-3 NIV). Three things will happen when Jesus comes again according to this promise. First, His coming appearance will fulfill our trust in Him. Though we haven’t seen Jesus we believe in and trust Him. Second, His coming appearance will fulfill our hope of a future home with Him. Heaven is real and we will reside there with Jesus. Third, His coming appearance will fulfill our hope of future fellowship with Him. One day we will see Him face to face and fellowship with Him. Jesus has promised us these things. And when Jesus comes again His promise to us will be fulfilled. Faith and hope will become sight. Promises will be fulfilled.("Daily Reflections On God's Word" Volume1 by Dr. Chuck Davis).
