GOD’S GLORY MANIFESTED! Where do we see God’s glory demonstrated in the bible? How can we know what some semblance of God’s glory is like…what is the kind of glory we will share in? Psalm 19:1 says that, “the heavens declare the glory of God.” Look up and see God’s glory! Isaiah’s vision of God talked about in Isaiah 6:3 says, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is filled with His glory.” This passage is not just talking about the brilliance of God shining forth but it is also talking about the glory of God in an ethical sense. God is holy. Pure holiness is glorious. How distinct is God from man? The holy character of God is demonstrated throughout the world but that is not so with mankind. When God works with us He does it in absolute holiness.
Mount Sinai and the wilderness wanderings were a continuous manifestation of God’s glory. The voice of God, the clouds, the tabernacle, the miracles were all manifestations of God’s glory. The Life of Jesus was a manifestation of the glory of God lived out on earth. Jesus was perfect in everything He did. People saw the glory of God in His life. He was different. That is the kind of life we will live for eternity. Our future life will be glorious in the ethical and pure sense. And our glory will shine forth in brilliance like Moses, Elijah, and Jesus on the mount of transfiguration.
Paul makes it clear in Colossians 1:27 that the reality of Jesus Christ living in us gives us real hope for sharing in the future glory of and with God. Hope relates to the future. If you already have something it is not hope but rather reality. What we have in Christ is a confident expectation regarding the future. If you are a Christian you are guaranteed to arrive in heaven and experience the glory that is found in God. Every Christian is a sure winner. Christ in you is the hope of Glory. He is your confident expectation of going to heaven. What we see manifested in the bible and in the world regarding God’s glory is just a glimpse of what we will have and share in the future. It is just a sample of the total reality. The bible says now we see through a glass darkly…our lens are dirty or cloudy…or out of focus. But one day we will see clearly. One day the glimpse of the glory of God we see here on earth will become a reality for us and we will share in that glory fully or completely. Who would not want to go to heaven and see the streets of gold and hear the choirs of angels and see the glorious Jesus face to face? All the things related to man’s glory here on earth are just a faint hint of the glory of the creator of all mankind.("Daily Reflections On God's Word" Volume 1 by Dr. Chuck Davis).
