BIG BANG OR BIG GOD?
BIG BANG OR BIG GOD? “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth,” (Genesis 1:1 NIV). The beginning of God’s written Word given to mankind starts out in great simplicity. The words are so simple that even a child can understand them and yet so profound that even the “greatest” minds down through human history have struggled with the implications behind the statement. Many people who struggle with the words do so because they try to create God in their own image or because their human heart has become so corrupted that they deny the very existence of God. But if a person cannot accept these simple words how can they possibly accept the remainder of the “story” of the bible? If one cannot accept the first words of God’s message as being true how can they possibly accept the last words of God’s message as being true or in fact any of the words in between the beginning and the end of the message (the bible)?
As I personally come into the presence of God each day I do not enter His presence to get theologically trained, though that does happen; but rather I enter His presence acknowledging that He is the creator of the universe, which happened at some time in the past, and that He actually brought all things into existence. As I understand and acknowledge the power and wisdom of God it gives me great encouragement and confidence to bow before Him and acknowledge Him and realize the great privilege it is to meet one on one with the Creator of all things and that He encourages and welcomes me into His presence. When daily we face life’s problems and challenges it is of great encouragement to realize that there cannot possibly be anything that invades our life that our God cannot handle. After all if God has the power to create the world out of nothing that pre-existed then He must have the power to handle anything that arises from or in that creation that affects us who believe in Him (Romans 8).
One of the great joys of life is to look heavenward, especially at night, and see the creation of God in its glory. And what a privilege a few individuals have who look down from space and can see the earth God has created. What a glorious God we have! And His glory is shown to all mankind but how sad it is that so many people around us reject the fact that God created these things. Satan has blinded the eyes of people for generation after generation so that they believe many scientists, educators, humanists, and atheists instead of God’s Word. As Christians we should enjoy the God who created all things but we should also take His message from His book and share the truth of creation, the sin of man, and the wonderful redemption and salvation offered through Jesus Christ to all those around us. It is true that God loves His creation and the people who reside in it so much that, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life,” (John 3:16 NIV).
