REAL HOPE...THE BLESSED HOPE. Many think things are hopeless in this world but the problem is they are looking in the wrong direction. Keeping your eyes horizonal really can bring discouragement and hopelessness. But looking heavenward will bring real hope because as the Apostle Paul said, “we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,” (Titus 2:13 NIV). Jesus could appear at any moment to take us to our heavenly home that He is preparing for us just as He said in the gospel of John chapter 14. That is real hope because it is based on God’s Word not man’s promises or opinions which often let us down. Keep your eyes and hope heavenward as you walk in this world.
In Jesus God’s grace, mercy and hope have taken bodily form in His incarnation. Jesus came to offer salvation to all mankind and to teach us how to live godly lives in the here and now. As Paul said, “For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,” (Titus 2:11-12 NIV). God’s grace manifested to the world and demonstrated in the person of Jesus enables Christians to live the way God wants us to live in this world and do it with great hope as we wait on the blessed hope to appear. Let us never forget that Jesus, “gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good,” (Titus 2:14 NIV). God did not save us to sit around in hopelessness and idleness while we wait on and look forward to His appearing. God has saved us to live a life of purity so people can see what God can do in transforming a sinner. And because of God’s redeeming work in Christ we should be eager to do what is good and reflect Jesus in our life. Jesus is coming soon!
