DESIRES AND ACTIONS! As the Apostle Paul thought about the Christians in the city of Thessalonica and the expected return of the Lord Jesus Christ he said this to them, “With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith. We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus,” (2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 NIV). As we pray for ourselves we should also pray for others. And the result of our prayers should be that the name of Jesus should be glorified in our every desire and action. For all our desires should be good desires prompted by God’s Spirit that make us worthy of His calling.
The world works on our desires to entrap us into a worldly self-centered mind set. God works on us to guide us into desires that make us worthy of His calling. Should not our every desire be evaluated in light of how fulfillment of that desire affects our heavenly calling? And should we not evaluate our actions in the same way? The actions we take should be prompted by faith in God in order to glorify the name of Jesus. God wants to bring our desires and actions to fruition in order to glorify Him and to make us more like Him. Getting our desires and actions in order to honor and glorify Jesus is only possible by the grace of God and submission to the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives. Left to our self our desires and actions will follow the ways of the world. So let us pray for our self and for our brothers and sisters in Christ regarding our desires and actions that they may be fruitful so that the name of Jesus is honored and glorified. Jesus is coming soon...much sooner than most people think!
