WHAT IS GOD'S WILL?
WHAT IS GOD’S WILL? For the total answer to that question we need to study the whole counsel of God’s Word, the Bible. That is beyond our scope today. BUT the Apostle Paul does give us some of the answer to knowing the will of God in 1 Thessalonians chapter 4. And if we aren’t obeying this part of the answer to, “What is God’s Will?” the odds are pretty good we are failing in other areas of the will of God as well. Paul said, “It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister. The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before. For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit, (1 Thessalonians 4:3-8 NIV). Our society is permeated by sexual immorality, pornography, filthy movies, videos, CD’s and TV programming, filthy magazines and other literature, sex change operations, and corruption of our educational systems. And on we could go. God’s people should know that it is God’s will that we avoid these things. And yet many Christians have become slaves to these things. It is time for God’s people to repent, confess our sins in these areas, receive forgiveness from God and begin to live Holy lives. After all our holy lives will please God and help others to do the same.
