ENOUGH!

September 27, 2019

ENOUGH! It is good to know someone that will give you all you NEED. Not all you want but all you need. That's right. That is what God's Word says. And the Bible says this in the context of speaking about money. Now before you turn me off and think I am talking about the "Prosperity Gospel" please hear me out. The Apostle Paul in writing to the Christians at the city of Philippi was thanking them for their financial support of his ministry and he added this spiritual truth, "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus," (Philippians 4:19 NIV). "All your needs" goes beyond money. Paul is saying that when you are a child of God that God will supply each and every need that you have. Our "needs" are determined by an all-knowing and all-loving God NOT by us in our finite and limited knowledge base. If God dealt with us on the basis of what we thought we needed the world would be in a greater mess than it is now.

And please note that God will supply us with all our needs out of His riches through Jesus Christ not through the government or social systems of our day though God may choose to use those or any other way He chooses. But our most intimate, critical, spiritual, eternal, emotional, and true life giving needs have nothing to do with money. And true balance in life regarding money and all these other things can only be found by trusting God to know what our actual needs are. God knows me better than I know myself. And time after time He has proven to me the wisdom of His judgement regarding my perceived needs and my actual needs. As a good earthly Father with a small child so is God's wisdom toward us in our perceived needs.  May each of us learn to rely on God's promise to meet all our "needs" in spite of all the questions that often arise in our mind. God loves us and only has the best for us in mind.
