JESUS, SPIRITUAL LEADERS AND THE BODY OF CHRIST! The Bible is clear that God gave His Son so that we could have eternal life, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life,” (John 3:16 NIV). Jesus in turn gave Spiritual Leaders to the Church, the body of Christ, so His people could be equipped for everything God required of them. The Apostle Paul said, "So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ," (Ephesians 4:11-13 NIV).

The end result among Christ followers would be unity in faith, unity in the knowledge of the Son of God, and spiritual maturity reflecting the person of Christ. To be honest, in my observation of the body of Christ today, at least in the United States, I don't see very good results for what Christ desired. The failure is not on the part of Jesus Christ. The failure is not on the part of God the Father. The failure is not on the part of the Holy Spirit. God has given us in the Body of Christ everything we need to be faithful fruitful followers of Him. Everything we need to turn the world upside down for Jesus is at our disposal. Why then are we, as the body of Christ, so weak in accomplishing what Christ intends as to be and do? As you take time to meditate on the above verses draw your own conclusions. My prayer is that Christ's followers will begin to be all that we can be for Him.
