DANGER AHEAD! One of the dangers of the Christian life is that we can get over confident in how well we are doing spiritually, not realizing that our confidence may make us prone to temptation. After all we are humans and prone to failure. Be careful. In this regard God reminds us in His Word with this admonition, "So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it," (1 Corinthians 10:12-13 NIV). Temptation is common to all human beings. What tempts you is not new. Others before you faced the same temptation. What is unique is God's interaction with you personally to control the temptation to such a point that you can bear it successfully. And God will provide a way out of the temptation. No matter our level of spiritual maturity temptation will come. When it happens remember what the Word of God has to say about the situation and act accordingly. Remember also this temptation is common and neither the devil nor your human nature is giving you a temptation that only you have ever faced. Remember also that God is in control and has set limits on the temptation and is providing a way for you to successfully prevail. Give thanks to God for allowing you to stand firm for Him.
