ARE WE LISTENING?

ARE WE LISTENING? Are we tuned in to the voice of God? So often we are too busy to take time to listen to the voice of God even in our churches. We rush about during the week and on weekends we want to be entertained even in our churches. But it is when we pause, focus, and give God our attention that He will connect, speak and give direction that will produce great results. In the following verses the beginning of the Apostle Paul's great missionary journeys Is revealed to have happened in such a setting. Will you take time to listen to the voice of God? "Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul. While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, ‘Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.’ So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off," (Acts 13:1-3 NIV). The history of the Church is replete with spiritual revivals that began with prayer times and times of listening to the voice of God. The mid-week prayer meeting in America has fallen on hard times and usually this time of prayer as a congregation has not been replaced with alternate times of prayer. It would seem that many churches in America are too busy to listen to God and speak to Him as a corporate body. Are we listening to the voice of God in our individual lives? As a church body are we listening to the directions that come from God when we open the “ears of our heart?”
