HEART TROUBLE! Do you have a troubled heart? It seems easy for that to happen in today's troubled world. But Jesus provides encouragement for Christians with promises that cover the present and the future. Jesus tells us in His Word that we need to remember that planet earth is not our ultimate destination and troubles are not a permanent state of affairs. Yes we are residents of the earthly realm but we need to remember that, “our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,” (Philippians 3:20 NIV). We are passing through life on earth to reach our ultimate home and place of joy. But our trip through life should not be focused on troubles but on God and His promises.
Why then do we spend so much time and money on material possessions and events and affairs of this life that often cause us trouble and yet so little time on spiritual preparation for our future home? Whether through death or the Rapture our ultimate destination is known and secure. The old saying is still true, "Only one life (on earth), it soon will pass, only what's done for Christ will last." Jesus said, "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am," (Gospel of John 14:1-3 NIV).
