THE TRIPLETS OF PRAYER!
THE TRIPLETS OF PRAYER! I have known a few twins in my lifetime and some were identical and some were not. I have also known and seen a few triplets. Both twins and triplets are usually very interesting. We also use twin words often in the English language, words that go together and emphasize what we are saying, though they may not be identical. Twins like “short and sweet” or “thick and thin” we hear quite often together. The Bible also brings to us some interesting life principles comprised of twins, or pairs, or couples. “Grace and truth” and “grace and peace” are often found together. Triplets are not uncommon either with “grace, mercy, and peace” appearing in Paul’s letters to Timothy and Titus.
Jesus in speaking on the topic of prayer gave us a very interesting trio of words to guide our praying and assure us of answers to our prayers. These words are very active triplets and remind us that prayer is more than just a few words flung heavenward on a whim expecting to receive great results. Jesus also reminds us that everyone of us has the same opportunity to participate in prayer and follow his triplet formula and receive God-given results. Jesus said, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened,” (Matthew 7:7-8 NIV).” Those triplets, “Ask, Seek, and Knock” can bring a blessing to all of us if we closely associate with them and do what their names suggest.
