BILLIONAIRES AND PAUPERS! It used to be if you were a millionaire people considered you rich but that doesn’t seem to cut it anymore. Billionaires are the name of the game today and most of those who attain that status seem to try to use some of their money to change the world into their image or way of thinking. Kudos should go to those who actually use their financial wealth to change the world for the better and help those paupers and the really needy of the world. Those who actually use their wealth to further God’s Kingdom in this world are few and far between and they are much appreciated by God and His people. But do we have to be rich to make our financial resources count for God’s Kingdom and His work in this world or can we make a difference no matter the size of our financial portfolio?

Jesus gave us His evaluation of financial gifts to the work of His Kingdom. The bible verses that follow are self-explanatory but as a long-time worker in His Kingdom I can honestly say I have not seen an extraordinary amount of Christians following God’s principle of “not equal gifts but equal sacrifice.” As you read the following bible verses ask yourself this question, “Isn’t it time Christians, including me, got serious with God about the use of our money?” God really can use us to help change the world. “As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. ‘Truly I tell you,’ he said, ‘this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on,’” (Luke 21:1-4 NIV).
