FOCUS IS IMPORTANT! As one who wears glasses I can tell you that when your glasses aren’t in focus strange things can happen. When a camera is out of focus a beautiful scene that we want to capture becomes just a blurred image. Life is that way as well. If we let our life get out of focus then what we do can become meaningless. Which leads me to these questions, “What is our focus today? What are we trying to gain? What are we trying to accomplish? What will be the ultimate worth of what we do and say today in light of eternity?”
Jesus said, “What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self? Whoever Is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels,” (Luke 9:25-26 NIV). Sometimes a person can get so busy gaining the whole world that we forget that when we die we will leave all the stuff we gain behind and our “self” will suffer a loss for eternity. I believe if we get a fresh focus on our day at the beginning of the day, whenever that beginning is, it will help us to keep things in perspective for the entire twenty-four hour time period before us. In this hectic world we live in focus is vital to the well-being of our body, soul and spirit. If we focus on Jesus through His Word and prayer at the beginning of our day then the rest of the day will be much more in focus as we enter the world around us.
