TWINS AND MATCHING SETS!I have known a number of people in this world who were actually part of a set of twins; if that is the way you describe it. Some sets were males, some females, and some sets consisted of a brother and sister. I think you know what I mean. Twins also come in items such as salt & pepper shakers, shoes, socks, and animals. There are also things we would call matching sets. They are not twins but they appear so often together that you almost never see one without the other. The bible speaks of those matching sets as well. Two of those things are “grace and peace.” The Apostles spoke often of these things, Peter said, “Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,” (2 Peter 1:2 NASB). I think all of us would like to experience God’s grace which in simple terms is “his unmerited favor;” something we receive which we don’t deserve like His payment for our sins and our reception of eternal life. A normal person would also like to have the peace that can only be given by God because peace in this world is hard to come by. The Apostle Paul said, “Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ,” (Ephesians 1:2 NIV).
It is interesting that grace and peace as noted in the bible, which can really only come from God and Jesus, is available in quantities. Peter said grace and peace can be multiplied to us as our knowledge of God and Jesus is increased or multiplied. God’s grace and peace have always been available in unlimited quantities but we only draw on it or realize it when we grow in our knowledge of God and the Lord Jesus Christ. Our knowledge of God and Jesus grows abundantly as we read and study the Word of God. The trials and experiences of life will also serve to teach us about God’s grace and peace. Some things you learn from what has been revealed to us in His Word and some things you learn as the Shepherd leads you through life in places like the “valley of the shadow of death.” When the Word meets us in life’s experiences and situations we realize the true value of grace and peace and realize that it can only come from the Father and His Son.
