HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY TO ALL THE MOMS EVERYWHERE! Yes, we do wish you a happy day though we know the circumstances of life and the new life you brought into the world often prevent the reality of our wishes. Mothers deserve all the praise and joy we can bring into their lives. After all we wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for our mothers and their long nine month labor of love carrying us around inside the womb. And when we finally arrived kicking and screaming into the reality of being examined and gawked at by a bunch of strangers, who was there to cuddle, love and feed us but dear old Mom? We know most Moms are not perfect but when you consider what God has given them to work with in the form of this new born and what society expects the Mom to do with this infant who will grow up to be the perfect citizen then you begin to realize the credit and praise Moms deserve. Most of the time Mothers are fountains of wisdom, with all kinds of little bits of advice, from your early childhood until the day you die or they die. After all you will always be their child even if sometimes they would like to trade you in for a different model; kind of like trading cars.
If you have a godly Mother then thank God for them because they had to take a little sinner like you and attempt to model Jesus right before your eyes and follow God’s admonition, “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it,” (Proverbs 22:6 NIV). I think most Moms start out exhibiting some of the traits of love as described in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 such as, “love is patient, love is kind, love is not easily angered, love keeps no record of wrongs, love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres, love never fails” But Moms soon discover what little sinners they are dealing with and then they are really tested in these love areas. I know some Moms fail the “no record of wrongs” test because I often hear Moms say, “Remember when.” Even as an adult and when my Mother was living I cringed when I heard her say, “Remember when.” You never know what is coming when you hear Moms say those words. But where would we be without Moms? Happy Mother’s Day to Mothers everywhere and God has a special gift for you if you have never received it. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life,” (John 3:16 NIV). Just as God gave you the child who calls you Mother so God is willing to give you His Son so you may have eternal life and be called God’s child.
