AN IMPORTANT QUESTION!
AN IMPORTANT QUESTION! There are a lot of important questions that confront us when we read the Bible. In fact when we live our daily lives we are confronted with an endless array of important questions. Some questions we choose to ignore and usually to our own detriment. Other questions that face us on a daily basis we must answer immediately or we will not be around long enough to face any more questions. As a Christian who has lived for a “few” years I believe I am not alone when I say there has been a definite deterioration in the very fabric of our society. Like many other Christians I believe our governmental, educational, and religious leaders are very often the cause of this deterioration. Very often we as individual Christians probably also share the blame. This is not a new problem for any society and the Psalmist reflected the problem three thousand years ago when he asked in Psalm 11:3 NIV, “When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?”
When we watch our national and local government leaders bickering and fighting among themselves and ignoring the welfare of their constituents but rather just trying to enrich and promote themselves what are the righteous to do? When the so called “religious leaders” of the so called “mainline churches” and “mega churches” abandon the principles and laws of the Bible and instead try to infuse unbiblical principles and practices such as abortion and LGBTQ and a host of other demonic and Satanic inspired practices into the life of the Church what are the righteous to do? When we see governmental, educational and corrupted religious organizations conspiring together to erode and change the very foundations of America what are the righteous to do? In reality there are a lot of things the righteous can do but before we do anything we should remember a very basic truth found in Psalm 11:4 NIV, “The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord is on his heavenly throne.” No matter how corrupt and discouraging the world around us gets let us remember who is in ultimate charge and will determine the ultimate outcome in the affairs of men and the world. Let us remember that the place to begin in answering the question of “what can the righteous do?” begins at the throne of God. It is in prayer before our heavenly father; the one who overrules in the affairs of men, the one who tells us to pray for those in authority over us on the earth, the one who knows the end from the beginning, the one who will provide all our need according to his riches in glory, it is to this one we are to come for answers and help in our time of need. So let us begin with the basics of prayer before we rush out to do battle with the forces of darkness in high places and as someone of renown has said concerning something else, “We shall overcome.”
