STANDING FIRM AMID CHANGE! Life is full of changes and if we don’t adapt to those changes we will miss some of life’s greatest joys, challenges and opportunities. One of the problems we have as Christians is how to maintain our biblical beliefs and standards in an increasingly ungodly world. This is not a new problem since our fellow Christians in the early church faced the problem and ended up becoming meals for hungry lions in some local arena. Sometimes you just have to stand your ground in face of all opposition to your biblical beliefs and just suffer the consequences. Our Christian biblical beliefs are under attack in America on every side at this time from: Congress, State and local governments, educational systems, atheists, homosexuals, abortionists, terrorists, housing developments, false religions, the work environment and Apostate Church leaders. It is not always easy being a Christian these days and maybe that is why we have so many cultural Christians and fewer biblical Christians.
The Church and Mission Organizations in America are faced with many issues today in attempting to maintain biblical standards and reach a spiritually lost world. The number of Christians willing to serve Jesus “full-time” continues to decrease in numbers and “wars and rumors of wars” continues to decrease the numbers of people willing to serve on short-term mission teams in certain countries. Churches continue to close their doors in America at an alarming rate and church attendance continues to decline. On the positive side let me say that God is still the same as He was yesterday, is today, and will be tomorrow. God will supply all that we need to stand firm for Him in an environment under the influence of Satan and seemingly controlled by Satan’s agents. God will supply those people we need in the Christian body to help us stand against the forces of the devil and they will not necessarily carry the title of Pastor or Clergy. They may be called President, Congressman, Representative, or Senator. Remember to pray diligently for them and support them in any way you can. The Apostle Paul reminds us to, “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms,” (Ephesians 6:11-12 NIV). When you see people fighting against God and His people in this world remember who is controlling them and remember where the battle really is and then pray even harder than you have before. Continue to stand firm in God and for God in this changing world.
