KEEPING FOCUS! Sometimes it is possible to lose focus on what is really important in life. Death often brings life back into focus on what is really important. Sickness often makes us realize what it really means to be healthy. The simplicity of children often shows us that we may be taking ourselves too seriously. The political area in America often causes people to lose focus on how neighbors should love others as they love themselves. Sometimes in the circles of Christianity we lose focus on where the real battleground for the souls of people really lies and we end up fighting each other instead of the real enemy.
The Apostle Paul said, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms,” (Ephesians 6:12 NIV). Christians in our country are in a real battle for the souls of those who live around us. Our country is filled with violence, pornography, sex-slavery, and child abuse. Drug trafficking is producing addicts, suicides, homelessness,
murders and diseases of all kinds. Many people aid and abet these things, including many government officials, and they should be shamed for doing this. Others spend time fighting the human causes of these tragedies and are to be commended for doing so. As Christians we need to realize where the real problem is. Satan has turned the hordes of hell loose on our country and because so many people have forsaken God and have let their sin nature take over we are sinking as a nation under the weight of sin. I feel the only real answer to our nation’s problems is for the Church of God to rise up against the spiritual forces of evil and darkness and win the battle for the souls of the nation’s population. It is time for the Church to regain focus on the need to do spiritual battle with the hordes of darkness and saturate this country with prayer and the gospel. Stop already with entertainment and get down to the serious business of fighting the forces of evil with the “incomparably great power in his holy people” (Ephesians 1:19) which is the power of the resurrected Christ. Unless the church gets serious and focused again while on its knees instead of upon the stage Satan will continue the rampage of evil in this country. Our politicians do not have the answers to our spiritual problems. Jesus does.
