FORGOTTEN? SELF-ABSORBED? SAD?
FORGOTTEN? SELF-ABSORBED? SAD? PRAYING BUT NO ANSWERS FROM GOD? MOCKED BY UNBELIEVERS? That was King David as revealed in Psalm 13:1-4 and that may be you today. So you are not the first to feel this way and you won’t be the last. But there is an answer to your situation. David found the answer and he shares it with us. David looked inward despite his feelings, questions, sadness, prayers, and mockery by others and this is what he concluded, “But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing the Lord’s praise, for he has been good to me,” (Palm 13:5-6 NIV).
There are times when all of us feel and act like King David. Life is not always easy. Life does not always offer easy answers to our difficult situations. We may withdraw inwardly and spend too much time thinking about our situation and problems. We may become depressed. God may seem far away and uninterested in us or our problems. Others may reject us and even delight in our problems. But as God’s children and followers of the Lord Jesus Christ we need to remember our salvation experience and the promises inherent in our relationship with Jesus and do as David did and trust in God’s “unfailing love” and “rejoice in His salvation.” We walk by faith not by sight because “this moment of experience” is not the totality of the Christian life but only one moment in an eternity to be lived with Jesus. So as David did we must learn to do, “I will sing the Lord’s praise, for he has been good to me,” (Psalm 13:6 NIV).
