A SAVIOR FOR ALL: Dr. George Truett, a wonderful preacher of a by-gone era said, “Christ was born in the first century, yet he belongs to all centuries. He was born a Jew, yet He belongs to all races. He was born in Bethlehem, yet He belongs to all countries.” The Gospel of John 3:16 states it this way, “For God so loved the world that he gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Christmas should be celebrated on every place on planet earth because every person on earth has reason to rejoice over God’s great gift to mankind. Nothing man is or does provides a reason for God to give His Son to us but only God’s love for us grants us this great gift. And every person on earth can receive this gift if they so desire. Jesus is certainly a Savior for all.
Another great preacher by the name of Billy Graham, you might have heard of him, said this, “The very purpose of Christ’s coming into the world was that he might offer up his life as a sacrifice for the sins of men. He came to die. This is the heart of Christmas.” So often at Christmas we focus on the Christ-child at Christmas without remembering the final outcome of His appearance on planet earth. Jesus came to die. A really sobering thought at Christmas time isn’t it? But God sees the birth of His Son as a time of celebration because at last there will be real hope for a sinful human race that has continually rejected a loving God. How sad that many people will miss the real message behind the manger scene and its ultimate meaning. I like what C.S. Lewis said in “Mere Christianity”, “The Son of God became a man to enable men to become the sons of God.” Jesus is a Savior for all people living anywhere on planet earth and it is possible for all people to become God’s children.
In the last book of the bible, the Book of Revelation says, “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.” The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.” (Revelation 22:16-17 NIV) Jesus is a Savior for all people in all ages and in all places and the invitation is still open today. The Son of God came to Bethlehem and then to the cross at Calvary to pay for the sins of all mankind. But to receive His gift of eternal life each person must be willing to come to Him and accept His payment for their sins. Jesus is the Savior for all.
