CRISIS! Someone has defined “crisis” as a time of intense difficulty, trouble, or danger. An alternate definition is “a time when a difficult or important decision must be made.” For some a crisis is something as simple as deciding what clothes to wear for the day or hair that doesn’t want to behave. For others it is a crisis when someone hurts their feelings or they are not included in the popular circle of friends or someone does something they don’t like. Pardon me if I can’t get too excited about those things or a similar “crisis” in life. A real crisis is when flood waters destroy all your earthly possessions and threatens your life, or a wild fire sweeps through and destroys your home or the entire town you live in, or a shooter walks in where you are sitting and kills multiple people and then points his weapon at you. A real crisis is when people plot to destroy a democracy and seek to replace it with a socialist state or plot to transport illegal people to our borders and overrun our immigration system and destroy our economic system. A real crisis is when we seek to abort the children of our nation and seek to replace them with children from other nations while at the same time saying we are just being righteous and sympathetic toward others. A real crisis is when the majority of a nation has lost all sense of the righteousness of God and replaced God’s righteousness with “every person doing what is right in their own eyes.” We are at crisis time in America!
It seems most people don’t realize why we are in such a horrible crisis in America today. Our political parties want to blame our problems on each other while they and their leaders appear to be in a “horse race jockeying for position.” I think the crisis is really all about the fact that so many people in our society have abandoned God’s leadership and replaced God with a godless human system that seeks to do “what is right in their own eyes.” I believe that the nation must do what God has urged His people to do if things are ever to get back on the right track and move out of the crisis mode in this country. What is it we must do? God said, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will hear their land,” (2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV). Is our nation content to live in crisis day after day or are we really seeking solutions to our problems? As a nation shall we continue on in our current ways or shall we accept God’s solution to our crisis in America? Our future may be found in a bended knee or a broken humanity. The choice is ours.
