BLESSED! Our home was a full and busy place last night as it was filled with laughter, joy, sounds of a baby boy, and a three-year old girl, friends, family and a loving dog. And what would such a gathering be without food of some kind? After five months of hospitalization and near death experience, rehab, and home health care in recovering it was good to see Millie moving about, enjoying the experience, laughing and excited about life. God is good and it is always good to recognize His blessings wherever and whenever they appear. We are thankful when God blesses us with friends who travel from afar to be a blessing to us. We are also thankful when grandchildren take time from their busy lives to share their time and children with us and our friends. God has also blessed us with our son living close to us and being a blessing to us during joyous and difficult times. So last night our house was filled with the sounds of God’s blessings for a few hours and now in the silence of the early morning hours I am reminded that God blesses us with these times as well.

The Apostle Paul reminds us that God blesses us out of His love for us but that we should also be a blessing to others, “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all you need, you will abound in every good work,” (2 Corinthians 9:8 NIV). When blessings come to us we should remember to thank God, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ,” (Ephesians 1:3 NIV). Those spiritual blessings overflow into our daily lives in common events and in special times and we should take time to recognize the blessings from God and also attempt to bless God with our actions and words as well. As you walk with God today I trust that you will, “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him,” (Psalm 34:8 NIV). Keep your eyes open for God’s blessings as you walk with Him and remember to thank Him for the blessings He brings to you today whatever the circumstances.
