GOD'S WORD VS MAN'S WORD!
GOD’S WORD VS MAN’S WORD. As this mid-term political season rushes to a close it will bring joy for some and sadness for others. Thankfully it may bring an end to the endless flow of man’s rhetoric for a short time and let us rest our ears; but I have my doubts as twenty-four hour news fills the airways. I am reminded at this time of the big difference between the endless and often valueless and disparaging words of those around us and the words of God. “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account,” (Hebrews 4:12-13 NKJV). How different this is from the words of mankind.
God is a living God so whatever word He utters is a living word that will last forever and be forever true. We are told that over and over in God’s Word, the bible, in verses such as “heaven & earth will pass away but my words shall not pass away,” (Matthew 24:35 KJV). And we should not forget that Jesus is also called the Word, the living Word who lived among humankind (John 1:14). But note here that the Word of God is not only living but it is also powerful or effective. It will accomplish what God has sent it to do, “so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it,” (Isaiah 55:11 NIV).
God’s word is able to dissect the very deepest aspects of our lives, a spiritual sword if you will, that can separate even the deepest thoughts and intents that we may have. People may not be able to “read” us or understand us. We may be able to hide our inward thoughts and motives (like many politicians) but God’s word through God’s Spirit will cut through our being like a hot knife through butter. That is why as God’s word is preached, taught, or read that it affects peoples’ hearts and changes peoples’ lives. God’s word will do what God has sent it to accomplish, “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ,” (Romans 10:17 NIV). The word of God will do its work when the human heart is exposed to the living God’s living word. And may we all be continually aware that Hebrews 4:13 reminds us that God constantly has His eye on our every action and thought and we must give an account for our life. It is great to know that God loves us so much that He continually has His eye on us. Let us not disappoint Him. And let us share God’s word so that others will come to know God intimately as well.
