FLOODS! Sometimes floods come suddenly and unexpectedly but sometimes you know they are going to happen and so you try and prepare for them. Sometimes floods and flooding occur because of human failure to do their job…dams burst, rivers overflow, or some other form of flooding occurs because of human indifference or human failure. Hurricanes or storms that bring rain, rain, and more rain and fill the lakes and rivers until they overflow and flood the surrounding farmlands, villages, cities, and homes can cause unbelievable disaster and suffering. We have seen this happen in the United States recently and now it has happened to our friends in Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean. They recently had flooding that is the worst in their country in fifty years and some would say the worst ever. And more rain is expected. We have friends in that country who are experiencing the flooding and are suffering through it.
Pastor Roger Dabideen of Cornerstone of Grace Fellowship in Trinidad reports that up to this point their church has been spared of flooding within their building but his home has been flooded with up to six inches of water and they are in the process of cleaning and assessing damage. Many people in the church have been affected by the flooding and today the people in the church are going prepare lunch for those who have been flooded. They are going to plan a way to help in a bigger and better way for those in great need and they could use our help. God reminds us in His Word that as Christians we should help those in need and especially those Christian brothers and sisters in need. James says, “Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?” (James 2:15-16 NIV). James is talking about putting our faith into action.
Caribbean Vision Ministries and those in Trinidad have been working together for twenty years to reach the Island nation for Christ. People at Cornerstone, though suffering themselves, want to help those around them in need. We can help them by showing our compassion and providing them with financial help to assist them in their need at this time. We are asking you to send a financial gift to Caribbean Vision Ministries at this time to help the people of Trinidad with their emergency needs. Every dollar you give will go to assisting those in need. We will work with Pastor Roger, a proven servant of God, and we will work through Cornerstone of Grace Fellowship to see that people’s needs are met in the best way possible. Please put your faith in action and give today. You can give on our website at: caribbeanvisionministries.org or you can send your gift by mail to: Caribbean Vision Ministries, 14458 Via Royale, Delray Beach, FL 33446. Mark your gift: Trinidad Disaster Relief. Thank you for caring and giving.
