APPROVED! I don’t know anyone who likes that word “disapproved.” It seems to carry with it a sense of imperfect, unworthy, defective, failure or not meeting up to standards. When it comes to God I think every Christian down deep in their spirit desires God’s approval on their life. God’s Word encourages us to, “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth,” (2 Timothy 2:15 NIV). As Christians God has appointed us all to be workers in God’s kingdom; and as His workers we should all seek to have God’s approval both in this life and when we stand before God to answer for this life. Who wants to stand before God in shame; the very God who gave His Son Jesus to die for our sins and give us eternal life? God has given us His Word, the Bible, which is His truth conveyed to mankind so that we can know God and His truth concerning forgiveness of our sins and restoration to a relationship with God. But His Word also equips us to serve God and meet His approval in this life. How we serve God will not save us but His truth directed service will meet with His approval and bring joy to Him and us. A key to living a pleasing life for God is to correctly “handle the Word of truth,” the Bible. I am afraid most Christians today do not read their bibles and I am also afraid that of those who do read most do not take the time to understand and apply what God is saying to them through the Word. In America we live in a biblically illiterate society. We have the bible in printed form, on CD’s, TV, radio, cell phone, internet and almost any other way you can imagine and yet the majority of this generation has very little understanding of the message of the bible. God has given us salvation through Jesus and the indwelling Holy Spirit to help us to correctly understand His Word of Truth so that our lives will be pleasing to God. Let us take the time to read and study God’s Word so that we understand what God is saying to us and then apply the Word to our life so that God approves of how we conduct our life in serving Him. After all we do want to be APPROVED of God.
