TIRED OF IT! I don’t about you but I am tired of it all; politics and politicians, hypocrisy, lying, cheating, stealing, foul language, murders, greedy people, poverty, immorality, and anti-God society. I could continue down this road but you know all these things as well as I do. And all this in the “greatest country” on earth. So sometimes I just need to take a break, get a cup of coffee, walk out to the patio where there is peace and quiet and watch the birds, ducks, and fish in and on the water of the little lake behind our house. Not far away people rush by on the Florida Turnpike and others rush by in a different direction headed for the Atlantic Ocean. How many are headed for heaven or hell I don’t know but all are headed in one direction or the other. But for the moment I can enjoy the peace and quiet, reflect on God’s Word if I chose to, or just enjoy my coffee. It is a time to refresh my soul and attempt to get over being “tired of it.”
Jesus got tired of sin as well but He took a different path; a path that led to Calvary. Jesus took moments to have time alone with God the Father while on earth but He continued His travels to the cross to take care of the sin problem of the world. The Bible says, “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God,” (2 Corinthians 5:21 NIV). Jesus’ holiness and His love for mankind drove Him to the cross not to the patio overlooking the Sea of Galilee. In our patio room I find a place to recharge my batteries so that I can rekindle a proper vision and heart for the lost people of the people as they rush to and fro in this world and often don’t know where they are ultimately headed. I am sure my heart of compassion for the lost will not come close to rivaling the heart Jesus has for them but being alone with Jesus on our patio will help to keep the flame burning and give me proper perspective as His Disciple for carrying out the Great Commission and the Great Commandment He has given all Christians. Tired of the world the way it is? Yes! Running from it? No! How about you?
