WHERE DID THE SUMMER GO? Do you ever feel like that about the seasons? In most places children have returned to school, family vacations are over, high school football games have begun and people are thinking about the upcoming Labor Day holiday which usually marks the traditional end of summer and the beginning of Fall. Summer has been really different for Millie and me this year as the entire summer has been involved in weeks in the hospital and rehabilitation facility, doctor office visits, and home health care people in and out of our home. We say, “Good riddance to this summer and welcome to the Fall season,” though Fall is still hot in Florida. We are thankful for God’s care and provision during this time and life is beginning once again to take on some semblance of normalcy, whatever that is in our household. Millie still has some rehabbing to do with her walking but from our viewpoint she is doing great. We thank all our friends and family and all those whom we don’t know personally for praying for us over the summer months. We believe it has been your prayers in conjunction with medical care that has helped us during this time. In both, prayer and medicine, we have seen the goodness of the Lord. Unless some new medical emergency strikes we will not bore you with further updates in this area.

Yesterday I had the privilege of preaching at Calvary Missionary Evangelical Church in Lake Park, Florida. I preach every fourth Sunday of each month in this Haitian church plant which reaches out to its community with the message of Jesus Christ. My Spirit is uplifted every time I attend this small church with a big vision. They sure know how to worship God with their singing, Scripture reading, prayers, study of God’s Word and involvement of everyone in worship. Every church should be like that church. Our society is often discouraging to many people as we see the wickedness around us and the work of Satan in many areas of life but as I read Psalm 27 this morning David reminds me, “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living,” (Verse 13 NIV). In this little church the goodness of the Lord is abiding and hopefully making an impact on the world around them. If you are looking for the “goodness of the Lord” in your life take note of David’s final words in Psalm 27, “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord, (Verse 14 NIV). God wants you to take part in experiencing His goodness in your life so open your heart to Him and see the goodness of the Lord as He shares it with you in many ways you may not have thought of before. Maybe through prayer, medicine, or even church attendance.
