CHANGE? Next Tuesday here in Florida where I live we have an opportunity to vote in the State’s primary election. If we don’t like those who have been in office who represent our party, or if we there is a change required, we have an opportunity to make some changes. The majority rules in this primary election and in some cases the winner will automatically be elected to office because the opposing party will offer no opponent in the general election. But when all is said and done will we really have change or will we just have a different face representing us? Will things just continue as they have been or could there really be progress in government that leads to more godly leadership and more morality in government that would really help society. Time will tell.
Some things never seem to change. Though written almost 2000 years ago I have to believe this bible passage perfectly describes our society today. "Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them." (The book of Romans 1:28-30)
Let us as Christians search our own hearts regarding these things. And let us remind ourselves from this passage of the bible why our society is in the condition it is in. When God and His principles for life are rejected then life follows a downward spiral as described above. Let us share diligently the only message that will change people and our society: the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. And let us do that today. It begins one person at a time. One post at a time. One soul saved at a time. We, you and me, can help change our portion of the mission field where we live. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)
