HIS WAY or MY WAY?

August 18, 2018

HIS WAY or MY WAY?  “As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless,” (Psalm 18:30 NIV). Most of us have tried things “our way” and discovered that our way was not and is not perfect. In fact it can be disastrous. Frank Sinatra had a big hit song titled “My Way” and his life style reflected the lyrics of the song; “For what is a man, what has he got if not himself, then he has naught, To say the things he truly feels and not the words of one who kneels, the record shows I took the blows and did it my way, Yes, it was my way.” My purpose here is not to bash Frank, for too often the way he lived and the songs he sang reflected too many of us. But it is clear in life that we have choices as to how we can live but in the end the choices are really simple. We can live our way or we can live God’s way. Man’s way is quite imperfect; flawed to say the least. But as for God and His way they are perfect.

Jesus said, “Go in through the narrow door. The door is wide and the road is easy that leads to hell. Many people are going through that door. But the door is narrow and the road is hard that leads to life that lasts forever. Few people are finding it,” (Matthew 7:13-14 NLV). In life we choose the road (way) we walk and one leads to hell and the other leads to heaven and one is flawed and the other is perfect.  As humans we often have trouble seeing the right way to live in life or the right road to travel but this we always know, “As for God, his way is perfect,” and this we also know, “The Lord’s word is flawless.” As we search the Word of God we discover, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path,” (Psalm 119:105). When we insist on doing things our way we can be sure we will very often make wrong decisions and end up on the wrong path in life but if we learn to follow God’s Word success will follow in life because, “in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight,” (Proverbs 3:6). I trust you will have a great day as you do things His way.
