OBSERVING LIFE THROUGH THE EYES OF OTHERS! As we pass through the stages of life we develop our views on life and tend to see things through our personal lens on how things really are. People, events, education, and experience have a huge influence on the life lens we develop. And once we develop our lens through which we see the world we often become resistant to change and people who have developed different lenses. It would be to the advantage of each of us to take time to see the world through the eyes of others from time to time. We may not agree with how others perceive the world  nor do we need to change to be like them but it would help us to understand how they have developed their world lenses and why they act and react the way they do. This would also help us to understand how best to help others develop a relationship to God and develop lenses that reflect God’s own eyes.

I am thankful for my Caribbean Christian friends and fellow workers in God’s kingdom in the Caribbean and United States who have helped me to understand their country of origination cultures and the world view lenses of their fellow countrymen. It has helped me in understanding the many people in the United States who have come from the Caribbean countries and adjoining countries and why they think and act the way they do. Observing life through the eyes of others will help to challenge a Christian in many areas of their life and also cause one to think about how God could use them in advancing His kingdom instead of their own little kingdom. It is easy for us in the U.S. to think that all people should think as we do but the reality is that most of the world doesn’t have our world view and especially our Christian world view. May God help us to observe life through the lenses of those around us and may God give us the wisdom to see how we may help them to see life through the eyes of God. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life,” (John 3:16 ESV).
