WHAT IS GOD GOING TO DO TODAY IN MY LIFE?

July 26, 2018

WHAT IS GOD GOING TO DO TODAY IN MY LIFE? Isn’t that a great question? I know God is going to love me and show me His mercy and grace and all those other things we take for granted in just having a personal relationship with God. As Christians there are just certain things we know about God’s work in our lives and those are things we depend on in our ongoing relationship with God. But what is God going to DO in my life today? Part of the excitement of living in a personal relationship with God is the fact that we do not know totally what God is going to do in our life today. There is always the unexpected event, the unexpected personal interaction, the joy, the sorrow, the blessing, the failures and the growth in the Christian life that we have no control over or have not foreseen. In fact we may not be on planet earth at the end of the day but rather we may be in heaven. Think about that for a moment.

Sometimes life seems like “sameness”; day after day the same. Same responsibilities, same problems, same anxieties, same, same, same. It can be depressing. If this is the case could this be because our focus has been lost because our eyes are fixed in the wrong direction? Could it be we are looking out instead of up? Could it be we are relying on self instead of God? I believe sometimes God allows “sameness” to get our attention and refocus our thinking. I wish I had all the answers up front as to what God will be doing in my life today but then I would miss the excitement of living with Jesus in the manner He wants me to live; a manner in which He can mold me to His image. Sameness? Maybe? Sameness, a challenge to use my time for what God desires? Maybe? In all of this we may not understand a period of “sameness” but this one thing we can do; we can be “Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God,” (Hebrews 12::2 NIV). One day we shall share the joy with Jesus in heaven but today we may endure “sameness” and share His work in our life whatever it may be.
