LOSING TRACK OF TIME! I have observed over and over during my recent journeys through hospital doors and rehab centers one common trait among a lot of patients. They lose track of time; not just the hour but also the day of the week, month or year. Sameness can do that to you; routine and monotony, sleep and then waking up with no markers to give awareness of time. It is understandable how this can happen in those places.
I think a lot of people go through life that way. They know all the information about hour, day, and date but they really don’t have an understanding of time. They have good health but they squander it on pursuits that have no lasting value. Eventually time runs out for everyone and all of us could possibly be the one behind doors where time has no recognition. So while God grants us His grace may we be wise in the use of our time. God’s Word reminds us to:
“Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” Be very careful, then, how you live —not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, (redeeming the time-KJV) because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, (Ephesians 5:14-20 NIV). Have you lost track of time? It is time to redeem it and make it count for Jesus.
